HOLMEAD ROAD SW6
My clients had decided to give up their rambling house outside Bath and return to the stamping ground of their lives in London. This Victorian terrace house had been refurbished many times over the years and all the work had been done very badly. They were able to rent a flat in the same street, so they moved out and we more or less gutted the house and started again. The renovation was very much designed to accommodate specific pieces of furniture, fabric, carpets and pictures which they had collected over the years.
The floor of the roof terrace outside the library is formed using slabs of salvaged slate which used to provide the shelving in the London Record Depository in Chancery Lane. The surrounding hedge is made of GRP woven panels of greengrocer's display dressing.
