ALEXANDER STREET W2
Planning consent for an additional floor had already been granted when my client bought this maisonette in Bayswater. We managed to build it two feet taller than shown on the drawings which provided a great deal more space without costing much more money. We built a relatively unsophisticated cupboard to accommodate her extremely sophisticated collection of footwear and had to have the road closed off , and a crane installed, before we could take delivery of a 1920’s porcelain bath which had been salvaged from the George Cinq in Paris. Although the top of the tub was sensuously rolled, it provided no handgrips and it was not therefore possible to manhandle it up the stairs.
